Making new games easy to see

Post by asd123321 »

Typically pictures are taken of the real game pieces and this often
makes it difficult to see after shrinking them down. In Terra Mystica
we have grey on grey, red on red and blue on blue that are not easy
to see. Numbers are so small as to be unreadable. It can be useful to
substitute bigger black numbers on a white background. In Eminent Domain
the writing on the cards is too small. If the cards instead had the right
half of the expanded view, it would be easy to play.

The designer of the new Brass Birmingham has indicated being favorable to having it online.
Having played it, I can see it is not easy to see with the dark colors even without shrinking it. It would be far better to make up a version like the old one at orderofthehammer.com. I also wonder if the programming from that site could be used to make a version here for the new one.

When someone is given the go ahead to engineer a new game, I think some guidance should be given
about making it easy to see.
