Players convicted of Cheating Should Not Keep Elo

Post by sprockitz »

In several games there are players who've been convicted of using multiple accounts or some other violation to achieve a high Elo, often #1 in a game...and after getting convicted get to keep their Elo ranking. Some of these players are permanently banned so they will eventually fall off the active lists, but others aren't actually banned at all...they get a temporary bump to their reputation but nothing significant that they can't build back up and are allowed to keep their #1 ranking in games that they cheated to achieve.

So suggestion is reset the Elo for players that are cheating...whether or not they get banned.

Players do get their ELO reset if they are found beyond a doubt to have cheated severely across multiple games.

The penalty they are given will depend on the severity of their misconduct.

Okay that is fair, but those who get banned forever for cheating still don’t necessarily have it reset...yeah they fall off the list after 2 months...but it would be better if they were immediately removed. Obviously if banned forever the punishment is severe the names shouldn’t hang atop the lists for months.

I agree. The site should automatically remove banned and deleted accounts from the rankings. Just the same as if a game hasn't been played for 60 days.

While on the subject of banning and multiple accounts, if each account is verified by an email address, then it could be possible to block the email address from making new accounts after being banned.
Without naming names, it seems obvious that some people are making new accounts after being banned.
