Newbie question re: can’t read cards before playing them

Post by bloomicy »

Maybe this is a game issue, or platform issue, or something else… I’m on an IPad and when I draw cards they’re all layered over each other so I can’t read the part that the next card is covering. If I zoom it just shifts the cards so there are fewer on each row but they’re all still overlapping the next one. And if I click on the card it automatically plays it and I can’t find an undo. What am I doing wrong? Thanks

It is kind of a general and known platform issue that standard tooltips don’t work well on iPad or other mobile devices.
If you were to play on computer, you would be able to hover over the cards and read the tooltip with larger descriptions.

No effort has been made or is planned to implement some custom solution in Fluxx to address this.
Because the cards only start overlapping when you have many cards in hand.
You only start with 3 cards, and basic Draw 1 rule - so in the beginning you should have time enough to read the full card text and get acquainted with the available cards.

Only when the Draw rule becomes much higher than the Play rule and other special stuff begins to happen, you might have issues.
I understand it can be confusing for new players if they get a lot of new cards at once, but most cards should become pretty self-explaining after a few plays.
