Does anyone know if the first player is determined randomly, by some algorithm, or some other method?
I mainly play 2-player, generally stay above ELO 300, and have played over 600 games. It seems that I am first player (2-player game) only about 1/3 of the time. I checked the last 50 or so games and had a ~2:1 ratio of starting second. I had a run a while back where I was 2nd player over a dozen times in a row. In a 2-player game there is (IMHO) a slight advantage to going first.
I understand probability and how it works... This may be a case of small sample size and recency bias. Just wondering if anyone knew of factors that may affect how BGA determines first player. Thanks.
