Narabi is now in beta!

Post by ufm »

Narabi, a mystic stone-arranging cooperative game, is now in beta!

In this card game inspired by the mysterious Land of the Rising Sun you must work together to use the effects of the cards to your advantage.
But there’s always a catch, isn’t there?
Unfortunately, you cannot simply reveal the effects of the cards in front of you to the other players.
You may only answer simple yes-no questions, so it will take a lot of teamwork, tactics, memory and precision for you to succeed.

Please try the game here: https://boardgamearena.com/gamepanel?game=narabi

Fantastic game and a great one to be able to play here! Thanks so much.

One possible idea - since it has a memory aspect, would there be a way to add an option that lets you see the conditions of the cards you have already seen even when they are in the hand of another player? It is open-to-you information and trackable, but hard to track playing asynch.

Thanks!

There is already BGA in-built note feature for async games.
Click upper right corner, open the note, and write down your information there.

Fun game, my group enjoyed playing it and will probably play it again. Couple of thoughts since it's still in Beta:

1) Can you follow what seems to be a BGA convention and list the player's name next to their cards? It's much easier to follow turn order and makes the game easier to play and more inviting to play.

2) I'd also add on to the suggestion above to find a way to display trackable information about the condition cards. Yes, we CAN use BGA notes (or a pad of paper, which is how we did it) but this game would be much more popular if you created a display that would remove the memory component and remove the burden upon players of recording trackable info. I know that my group tends to stay away from games on BGA where we have to take it upon ourselves to record trackable info.

Thanks for taking on development. My group is always looking for challenging co-op games that don't have an overwhelming memory component and Narabi could certainly meet that requirement!

1) No. Either rotating player names with cards or putting unrotated names next to rotated cards look awkward.
2) All visible info is already recorded by game logs. You can reread them whenever you want.
If you want to track information by yourself, you should use a separate note.

It's too bad you seem more afraid of your game implementation "looking awkward" than of it being hard to play.

You may be limiting yourself severely as a game developer with that outlook.

Even if you may find their answer is not to your taste, please remember that the developer made the game available as a volunteer for your enjoyment. The fact that they don't share the same vision as you of how the game interface should not push you to such an aggressively worded message. You might have stated your opinion in a much more respectful manner for the work that has been volunteered for this adaptation.
