Spot it / Dobble in turn-based mode?

Post by cigma »

In this list https://boardgamearena.com/gameinprogress?game=1468&all I can see that some games of Spot it (=Dobble) are played in turn-based mode. I am wondering how this can be done (I can't find an option for this) and why someone would do so. Isn't it a game about fast reaction? So what is the point in playing it turn-based? I could imaging doing so as a training game for new players, but I also see experienced players playing in normal mode.

I am just curious about this. Can anyone explain these mysteries to me? Thanks.

I assume the only way of doing so is if someone runs out of time. Instead of kicking them you're given the option of switching to turn-based mode.
Why someone would do this I have no idea haha. I'll take a card, then it's your turn to take a card

Technically, you could play it turn based. Game would calculate reaction times asynchronously and compare after everyone "made their move". Although I'm sure there would be way too many ways to exploit it :D
