The translation might not translate things in a reasonable way. And typing takes a long time. Reading a translated text also takes a lot of time. A more efficient way to click on resources and proposing trades and counter offers (and non-active players being allowed to start offering before the active player is also very important) would make the game much faster. Trading should be like a marketplace - all kinds of offers constantly being thrown around. And in a fast manner.

Then it sounds like you will definitely want to stick to real-time tables! You can even restrict matchmaking to only play with English-speaking players.
