doesn't look like a sequence to hard to remember.
Also is it just not optimal play? There's not that many choices in this game.

I am commenting on this particular example.

Just because some people cheat, doesn't mean that everyone cheats all the time.

You should enable opening rules first and play unconventional openings if you think so.
After all, normal mode rank itself is prone to cheat obviously.
Hence Arena mode is forcing swap rule and non-6x7 boards.

Weird thread. It's a bit old, but the most recent. I see posts about a solver, yet all that is shown is pictures of connect four boards on poorly played games with no demonstration that a solver is even involve in determining what moves went in or not. The lack of quality in the games give little credibility to the idea that one was used.

Anyways, from what I've seen these days, I haven't run into many, if any, cheaters even in 6x7 games. When I review my games, I often see one or more errors emerge, whether on one side or both, mistakes unpunished, etc. As for bigger board sizes, a solver doesn't seem like it would be very good. The expanded moves make it easy to go beyond the solver, and zugzwang is the primary win condition of Connect Four, which a a board that changes certain properties, such as whether there is an even or odd number of slots in a column, or whether there's a center column, will mess with how plays work.

I honestly had no idea people do this. It's sad we can't just have people who play the game normally and work to get the skills to win.

That being said. I have been playing this game for a long time and have never cheated once. I have elo > 500 and WAS #10 in Ranked. Most of the boards that you've showed as examples just look like fairly normal games. There aren't a ton of options so a good player will just know how to combat most strategies even if a solver is giving it to them.

Even with cheaters I haven't had a problem enjoying the game and winning.
