The original game does not have a tie breaker. We thought about implementing one here but the designer has not given us any guidance on how to break the tie!

So right now, just random player wins in case of a tie?

In the game listed in the original post, both people are listed as first i.e. it's a tie.
If two people tie and one has a lower ELO rating, they will still gain ELO based on the tie (this is true of all BGA games)

As the response above said, BGA supports ties for any number of players in any positions

The game was played in a tournament with direct elimination, so one of the two players was selected to play the next game.
Was he selected ramdomly or because of his lower elo ?
