Perhaps, for you at this point in time, but not necessarily forever! I remember feeling that way about CATAN the first time I played with my friends, and have since played probably 100x. I even taught CATAN to my 6,8, and 10 year old niece and nephews. So, perceptions can change.

If Agricola is a game you really want to learn, you could start with related games that are simple, like Stone Age. Then, once that feels comfortable, Agricola won’t feel quite as intimidating because you’ll be able to relate it to something else.

I really love Agricola. If you don’t, that’s okay too! But I agree it can be a challenging game to pick up.

I would recommend to play without cards to start with and just learn as you go.
As long as you understand the principle of gathering resources and then spending them to develop. Try to fill-out your player board. You need to feed your meeples each harvest. All of the action spaces are useful at some point.
