Maybe 2-3 days per player is not enough [in tournaments]

Post by danielvictor »

People had been used to getting 4-5 days to make their moves. The 2-3 days-per-player tournaments seem to be getting timed out rather a lot.So maybe at least 3-4 days is needed.

So four of us from three different timezones, nearly finished the turn before last when our game got cut short. We were as far into our game as anyone else in an active game.Would have been nice to have finished it,as we were all trying our hardest.

It's up to the tournament organiser to choose the format and time-frames.

But you're right, short fixed time-frames can be very problematic causing a lot of game time-outs.

I just finished a 2-3 day-per player tournament game, and all four players left disappointed when the game timed out just before the final turn. The other three players all went over time limit.Organisers,we really need 4 days per player.
