I couldnt chop a tree down in shadow. Im sure I had enough resources but it didnt give me the option to harvest a fully grown tree. Any thoughts?

That's the rules of the game.
Re: Chopping trees in heavy shadow
But the rules say "Players cannot plant a seed or grow a tree when that
seed or tree is shadowed by another tree."
Doesnt say chopping it down is affected. Thats why i was surprised.

This is actually a good question and I agree with the interpretation of the rulebook as allowing collection of trees when in shadow. However this has been asked and answered by the designer on BGG who says that tree collection should be interpreted as a type of growth action: https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/305703 ... ect-tree-i

What would the designer know!Fletcheese wrote: ↑06 April 2023, 15:59This is actually a good question and I agree with the interpretation of the rulebook as allowing collection of trees when in shadow. Still seems odd - why would a tree need sunlight to die? If anything, it would be more likely to die in shadow.

Re: Chopping trees in heavy shadow
I think the death is a slightly weird part of the game. Intuitively it seems like a negative thing - maybe they are being cut down or dying. And thus, the end boardstate of a well played game is almost empty.
But I think the death is meant to be more like ascending into nirvana - a joyous affair. That's why you get light for it.
This was asked a while ago, and the intention was stated as being that you can't activate a source circle (for growth/seed dispersal/ascension) that is in shadow.

Actually it just costs you light and you get "leaves" (dead leaves? haha). It's meant to be an ascension but no matter how you look at it, there is a "sad" side to itStuff by Bez wrote: ↑08 April 2023, 08:40 But I think the death is meant to be more like ascending into nirvana - a joyous affair.
