Auto-pass

Post by madhattr999 »

The auto-pass option needs to be changed if integrity of the game is to be upheld. If auto-pass is enabled, anyone can very easily just look who to see who the table is waiting on, see the tile that came up, and infer the possible tiles in that player's hand.

A better option might be to auto-pass after a 3-5 second timer has gone by, with a checkbox or button to cancel passing.

At the very least if nothing is changed with the option, if someone is deciding to call, it needs to not show who is considering calling (unless maybe it goes on for 30+ seconds or something).

Thanks for efforts in implementing the game.

Some clarifications after playing a couple more games.

Regarding discarding,

There should be a checkbox at the top after calling Riichi that says "auto discard except for Ron/Tsumo". It needs to reset after the hand is over. The options at the bottom of the game are too out of the way.

Regarding passing,

There needs to be an option to pass automatically after x seconds, with a checkbox that can be unchecked to not pass. It needs to be x seconds so that it will mimic someone naturally looking at the tile and passing and doesn't indicate what someone might have in their hand that would allow calling the tile. Also having the checkbox will allow people more time if they want to think harder on whether they want to make the call (which will indicate to other players just like in a real game).

Less urgent, but I would also like to see a "pass on all chi calls after x seconds" and "pass on all chi and pon calls after x seconds" checkboxes that goes along with the auto-pass. Maybe it's as easy as moving the auto-pass options to the top of the screen near the pass button. Often, players are not wanting to open their hand except in certain situations and this would reduce the amount of clicking necessary. Again, it needs to be after x seconds so that auto-passing doesn't give away the players' hands. And the options need to be near the pass button, not hidden away somewhere because these options will be turned on and off throughout the game depending on what hand the player is going for.

Thanks for all your efforts in implementing this game.

These can be implemented clientside to better simulate the timing of player action.

Thank you so much for the automated features. The turn-based experience is now fun. It made all the difference. Glad to see this game on here.
