"Rigole"

Why is the word rigole used in the English translation (of the Yams variant)? There may be no perfect way in English to describe this particular combination, though "split" seems like a decent possibility. But that doesn't seem like a great argument for using a seemingly random word from French. I assume I'm missing something. Can anyone explain?

One way to think of it is four of one number and then one of the number on the opposite side of the die.
Another way to think of it is four of one number and then one of the number that, when added to the first number, equals 7.

Or two dice that add 7 and 3 other copies of one of them.

So, getting back to the question I posed, why is it called "rigole"? Why not some slightly relevant word in English?

Because it's a French variant added by a French dev years ago
