How is ELO calculated in a 2 player game forfeit?

Post by Lotsa_Llamas »

Sorry if this is in the FAQ, but I could not find it there. If I missed it, please feel free to link me to it.

In a 2 player game, when one person forfeits how is ELO calculated. If that person played the game out to the end, could the winning player have gained more ELO if they scored more points?

If a player concedes in a 2-player game he loses the game (concede=forfeit=resign). Elo is then calculated exactly the same as if this player had lost the game by playing it out.

Elo does never make any difference on how you lose your game or by how much you lose your game.

The only difference is if one player quits (not concede), then the other player wins ELO proportional to the game progress at the time. The quitting player still loses full ELO.
