Definitively false. It is covered explicitely by the FAQ of the game and working as intended here.

I've just read the FAQ, again, and it clearly states that bangs used for Duel are discarded and not played. So what's your point exactly when you say working as intended? Or you have access to other FAQ I can't see, in case send a link.
