Future of the HEX game

Post by magnum108 »

What is the future of the HEX game?
Is it popular right now? Or maybe the popularity of this game is declining?
Which countries have the largest communities that play this game?
Are there live tournaments? (I found on youtube several videos from HEX live tournaments in France.)
Does this website (and little golem) have the strongest and largest HEX community?

I have replied in the Little Golem forums, here: https://www.littlegolem.net/jsp/forum/t ... &topic=818

Actually, let me try to answer your questions more succinctly now.
The future is unknown but not hopeless.
The popularity has arguably declined for the last 15 years or so. But with BGA maybe it's making a comeback.
In terms of strong players, Poland is #1, and after that come maybe the USA and Canada. But it's not like the players are organised in associations.
Live tournaments are rare. The Paris tournament is or was yearly but I don't know about 2018 and later.
BoardGameArena has the largest and Little Golem the strongest hex community, I would say.
