Is camp good or bad?

Post by nccc »

in 3 or 4p games it seems bad, because u either have to play the card again to avoid ur camp get occupied by others, or just give up the place.
It seems better in 2p because u can just discard the card instead.
Thoughts?

Camp is for three purposes mainly:

1) connecting your fiefs for allow for significant round scoring - it's not uncommon to have a camp net 20 points in round 2 or 30-40 point in round 3
2) blocking other players from placing camps to deny significant round scoring
3) satisfying the parchment requirements in round 4 (or denying them from other players)

obviously, it is better than unwanted territory cards and worst than wanted territory cards. because if you are afraid of your camp being destroyed, you can choose to use them at the end of the game.

Isn't playing them at the end of the game too late?

it is just a choice, so camp is always not worse than a useless territory
