Re: Strategy tips

Hi there :)

Lets keep the strategy section in the wiki free from stuff that is not implemented. We do not want to confuse new players that are looking for help here.

So I am not the best source for KS exclusives tips as my main expertise is the BGA implementation, but here are IMHO two of the biggest things:
- Age 2 mystic / Hildisvini:
Vanilla blood rage allows you to draft super greedy for upgrades/quests when you have established a lockdown on a region.
You always can break lockdowns with a ship, but depending on how early you are in play order this can become rather draft heavy as you will require one or more of Odins tide/battle card + heimdalls/Tyrs Challenge + 2 rage for the ship. So often enough punishing the lockdown player will also damage your own play for the age, simply rewarding all other players for not being involved.
Age 2 mystic/Hildisvini allow you to enter the lockdown area. Thats cool because if the lockdown player kills your unit during the pillage, you make room for the next player to contest him. So another player has the chance to jump in with Troll/Fire giant or contest the lockdown player in the next age. So fighting a lockdown player becomes easier with those units as it does not force one single player to sacrifice his draft for it, making it a more collective thing.

- Mountain giant:
This is the one monster that should be in the base game. It is rather expensive for age 1.
However, it makes going for age 2 / 3 leaders more reliable, as you dont need to be scared of the fire giant and have a fallback-leader in case someone agressively tackles your leader with battle card+heimdall.
So you have a shot at getting the endgame bonus for maxed stats without being forced to win Yggdrasil several times/going heavy on quests.
Thats cool because it allows a playstyle that is not that present in the base game.

If you are looking for further thoughts about the kickstarter monsters, maybe try the search function on the bloodrage forum at boardgame geek. You should surely find several people's opinions on those monsters.
