In the beginning of the game, I would like to have a good look at all my cards. Even if I had the 2-of-clubs, I wouldn't want to play it before becoming familiar with my hand. When the card is played automatically, I need to consentrate on the opponents' cards on the first trick as well as my own other cards, and soon the cards of the first trick disappear entirely. That's annoying.
I don't mind if the timer of the owner of the 2-of-clubs starts as soon as the cards have been dealt and passed, just let them decide how long to think.
