Modification of validated translation : who will be credited for the new one ?

Post by Hagardunor »

I have seen somewhere very poor translations in my language (french). For instance some sentences or names are translated as in the dictionnary whereas in the game context they have a completely different signification.

Exemple :

BOW is translated as depicted by the image below
Arc_LA.png
Arc_LA.png (20.5 KiB) Viewed 306 times

whereas the meaning in the context is the following
knell.gif
knell.gif (4.78 KiB) Viewed 306 times

When I start to modify I get the following notice
Capture d’écran 2023-08-26 233832.png
Capture d’écran 2023-08-26 233832.png (115.51 KiB) Viewed 306 times

I clearly understand that I wont get bonus XPs, but that's not a big deal. My question is : if my modification is approved, who will be credited for the translation ? me or the individual whose poor translation has already been validated ?

Thanks.

The other translator has already been credited for their former translation after 30 days without change. If you improve their translation after this time, nobody will be credited.

If you think someone is constantly not translating adequately and you can prove this (as in your example), you can report them to the admins.

Language is a source of misunderstanding. (Antoine de Saint-Exupery: The Little Prince) But it is also the source of understanding - it all depends on how you use it. :-)

In that case, I see no incentive for improving a guy/girl's sloppy work that will be finally credited of being good work thanks to mine.

In such cases, BGA would be wise to think of some kind of reward to the true person who actually improves his platform . As for me it can stay as it is with its ridiculous translation as long as the rule does not change.

The reply is wrong as cigma described gift points gain but you wanted to know the final translator displayed in HQ.
You don't get gift points for editing texts, but you get the 'credit' for edited texts.

Also, when you find a user who constantly mistranslates everything, report them asap.
If they get punished, admins will blacklist them from translation modules to prevent further damage.

Just to make sure I understand your answer : what do you call the HQ, and what is the link to it

In fact your are right : i do not regret missing the gift points, but I would REALLY like to be credited for the translation modifications if my proposals are validated

Regarding the report of bad translater : in addition to the fact that i am not comfortable with denunciation, I do not have any clue on what the person has done for other games and dont want to waist time searching for it. So i am not confortable reporting him or her.

In case i am sure to be credited of the translations modifications if validated, I will put here the game of concern, and it will be the responsibility of BGA adminstrators to make a decision on what to do with the person in question.

Thanks

Next to each translated text, you can see who provided the translation currently in use (or used after the 24-hour activation period).
So yeah, you will get the credit if you modify a translation.
