Only cowards exclude opponent that did no moves

Post by ArmagedOFF »

At the moment arena games start without acceptation and any notification.
Guys, can't you cancel the game or switch to turn-based mode? Your opponent mostly just don't know that the game was started.
All people who exclude opponent that did no moves on Anera, you can't play fair, you are cowards and just farming easy points!

People who join Arena games and forget and never make a move are handling it on a silver platter.

If you're not going to be there when the game starts, don't join Arena.

I can't sit and stare into screen. That's not funny. You should be able to switch to another tab and browse web. Also you may have some urgent business when cancelling arena game search is the last thing you are thinking about.
Yesterday I even got a leave when I was online on BGA. I was processing turn-based games and I was 100% sure that in that case BGA will open real-time game. But no...
Those games should not be ever started if both players are not ready (like regular games). Or at least BGA should notify about game starting. That is such a stupid implementation...

Btw, there is a suggestion with this issue - https://boardgamearena.com/bug?id=14271

Your opponent(s) cannot sit and stare for you to eventually show up, that's not funny either.

They could switch to turn base, but many people find that not funny, and at least that's not what they expected when they joined the table. They could also abandon the game, but I don't think that would funny.

Could they be "nicer" and not expel you? Sure. Could BGA be programmed differently? Probably, but there's also issues with what a browser is allowed to do. Could Arena games require acceptance? Maybe, but that would also lead to abuse. At the moment things are like that: when you join Arena, it's your responsibility to monitor the status and be ready when the table starts, if you don't (even if it's for good reasons), you can be expelled and it's definitely not the other player(s)'(s) fault.

I'm 100% agree! That is why such games should not be started at all.

Why? Personal info should be hidden on acceptance screen. Acceptation works fine in regular games, why arena should be different?

I realize everything, I understand how all these things are currently working, I know that nobody is not obligated to care about me. But I'm sick of it.
Simple asking player availability before starting a game and everyone will be happy. Oh, no. Except some people who regularly farming free point. They will be a little bit upset. And this thread is just my opinion of these people. Just boiled up.
