In ranked PvP games, players are not going to let you just walk away from a game you're losing.

In ranked PvE games, enemies are not going to let you just walk away from a game you're losing.

This is really a byproduct of all ranked, all the time, which is how BGA defaults. There is training mode but nobody plays it. Maybe people should? Maybe there should be an unranked mode?

I mean, it's fairly obvious that this thread doesn't apply to casual mode though - you're asking about a competitive feature which you wouldn't care about if you wanted to play casually.

So, the answer should be extremely obvious.

I'm kind of amazed this actually happened. It's a rare decision in the name of some kind of "justice," because it's likely not a popular decision, so it wasn't driven by money.

Too little, too late. Coop games should've been this way since the beginning. At least it happened after all these years.

It's probably a good idea to do some kind of "unranked" mode for board games. "Training mode" is great for friends, but you need the timers and the consequences for leaving for pick-up games. It would probably be good to add a mode which is exactly like ranked, with timers and everything, except ELO is turned off, for all games.
