jgpaladin 186 - Automa 128

Better than before, still not satisfied I'm making ideal decisions. Too many options where I can't yet determine what the optimal choice is:
  • Where is the best second starting location?
  • Start with PI or AC1 or AC2?
  • How much to focus on gaia points?
  • How many feds to create? Three is easy, and I have come very close to 4 but keep making at least one mistake that keeps me from completing it.
  • Do I worry about competing for colonizing most planet types?
  • Do I need to invest in researching terraforming?
I've been all over the place on the above questions. Frustrating, but fun. :)

It took many tries to win against alptrauma, but i did it =)
started with lab + mine + nav 2, eco 1. boost eco, in 4th round build 3 feds (one from PI) and took adv tech from eco. took adv tech from AI track then terra 5

Congratulations! RL+2m looked unpromising but worked out well. I like the way you got two feds in R4 then covered the big buildings tech tile with the advanced tile so charge was again 2 for 3. And a 12VP fed token plus 3qic action is very strong. Great game.

I like this month's challenge because the best strategy is not so clear at the beginning, and so there are lots of different plans. The Taklons challenge a few months ago produced huge scores but the map, round and tech set-up meant there was much less variety in approaches. Fun is good.

First game back after a long hiatus! I snagged a pretty solid 158 rushing econ and science vs. Automa.

Marquis de Fuzz 151 vs Automächtig 138 - https://boardgamearena.com/6/gaiaprojec ... =457115019
No real tech focus other than income tech tiles (4 credit; 4 power); in the end Nav 5, Terraform 5, QIC and Income 1.
Start with PI for bonus vp and power income; snag southern grey planet early with double terraform power action. Felt like I too often accepted expensive passive power charge but did use plenty of power actions.
Tried to setup 3 gaia planets on round 5, but Firaks snagged on first. (Also forgot that only ore was required for gaia planets until after building right academy. :D )
In round 6, used knowledge per planet type for lots of gains. (Early grey and lost planet helped.)

That made me laugh! And at -6 VP, your passive charging is probably a little below average.

Made it to 169 by going T1 Academy and focusing on econ and the Advanced Tech at the top. Feels like I'm getting closer.

As ever, thank you to everyone who tried the challenge and posted scores. There was a nice variety of games. And I'm declaring joint champions this time, Nigator for their Alptrauma game and top-scoring kespie.
