Being called a poor sport for refusing to abandon game in Arena

Post by Lichlo6a »

Has this ever happened to you?

It just happened to me on this game, *

The player * gets mystics and traders for his starting civ and wants to abandon because he doesn't know how to play either civ.

I reject his request. The guy then badgers me by saying that I am a bad sport and that I just want a "free win". Like whatever. I say that we can match up again in Arena, but the guy rejects the rematch saying that he just wants a "fair match" (whatever that means).

Anyway, the guy goes ahead and red thumbs me. Go figure.

Has anyone here encountered players like this before?

yep, exact same scenario (twice) with the same result after the second time: Mutual red thumbs

BTW: BGA does not want you to include player names if you are not happy with someone. Maybe edit your post to remove the name

If the player behaved inappropriately in the chat (insulting/harassment) then you can report them. Otherwise just red-thumb (if you wish) or add a note, and move on.

It's funny, I had the same problem with that player, but he didn't abandon the game he just immediately gave up and let me have the win just after the reveal of the civs, unbelievable ahah

Yep happened to me as well against him. He gave up after he finished his game (i don't get why this is even an option). As a civilised grown-up i thought it was only nice to return him the favor when he was winning with 8 civs and about to get a mega score ;)

I had a similar experience in the one game I have played with this player. First of all getting upset at me in the chat when I messed up his Isolationist terrain grouping, and then later rage quitting when I had drawn a trap that prevented him from getting the bonus for 2 outpost topples.
