I don't think that's what the stat is saying at all. It means 0.01 times PER GAME, which translates to 1%. This may be approximately (since the number may well be rounded), so somewhere between 0.5-1.5%, I would guess probably in the lower end of that range.

I've played the game ca 1350 times and have seen four mermaids 9-10 times, can't remember the exact number but in that ballpark. That would work out to between 0.65-0.75%, which seems about right..

0.01% would mean you'd have to play on average 10.000 games per four mermaids-win, which most certainly isn't true.

Ah, you got here first. Yes, you'll notice that all the other stats on the page are number of occurrences per game, and it would be odd if this was the only one that was different. Also, with between 250 and 300 games I've gotten it once and had an opponent get it once. Though not impossible, that would be very unlikely if the chances were 0.01% instead of 1%. And with rounding it's possibly dead on.
