Removing Hazards

Is the only way to remove hazards is by paying 7 on a neutral site (or less with some buildings)? If you choose to stop on a hazard, can you remove it? Thanks for the help!

No, you can't remove it just by stopping on it. You need to use a building action or the 4th cowboy hire.

The primary way to remove hazards is by paying the specified cost, such as 7 on a neutral site or a reduced cost with certain buildings.

Yeap, costly building action or 4th cowboy hire bonus.
There is a different mechanism in GWT Argentina though.

There is also one station token that lets you grab a hazard.

If you eliminate dangers from the board, you will get the number of victory points shown in the bottom right corner of the tile. The values do vary, so be sure you remove the highest-value tiles to increase the points.
