Scoring for Donuts

How are the points awarded for Donuts? I'm confused why it only awards a few points for a win but takes away double or more for a loss.
Could I get a break down of how the points work for this game?

It's not just for Donuts. The points gained or lost depend on the relative ELO of the participants, and their K factor. You can read about how ELO is calculated in the FAQ.
