jgpaladin 191 - Automa 110
PI on turn 1, got the +4p tech asap, and used the hell out of power actions all game.
Maxed research on terraforming, economy, and navigation by the end.

Never played the Nevlas before, the Institute power is amazing. Might be my highest Gaia score yet (nothing like you other fools).

Jaydash 162 vs. Automa 110
Topped - terraforming and nav. almost got QIC too. Three federations.

Jonash87cz wrote: 02 March 2024, 23:16 Again Nevlas in March? :D and Lantids still nothing...
Hi, I'm aiming to have Lantids but the February set-up really didn't suit them (e.g. endgame gaia) and I don't control what the automa of the month is, so it was impossible to select them this month. I was happy to choose Nevlas because they seemed popular last time round, and it is my first anniversary of setting the solo challenge :D .

I know but there were 19 challenges and 0 plays with Lantids, so...

I enjoyed the replay: I wasn't expecting the qic academy or the terraforming-heavy approach but it was nice to see it all come together.

Nice game! Very tidy, and good alround scoring.

Taerinshar 198 vs. Terran Automata 114
https://boardgamearena.com/9/gaiaprojec ... =484327517#

I've never tried the Academy opening before, so started with that and used all the charge to sprint up economy and then did a mix of terraforming and navigation to spread out a bit. Grabbed the top of the AI track at the end and all the QIC cubes helped me get the last federation. I wasn't optimal with my federation placements/timing, but still managed to beat the automata on both end gaming scoring tracks and got 40 points in science with another 36 from technology tiles.

The map for the high scores seems to have a similar setup for the opening. 2x earth and snow very close to each other at the bottom of the map. Is their a way to control that setup? The game I tried to initialize always had Nevlar and Terraner home world far apart and I would like to try to replay a few of the high score games.
Ah, I had the wrong map setup, random map (instead of variable map) shows the same starting point.

First try (with some reboots to get the opening right). Eco and science, as almost always...
kespie 209 vs 149 Automachtig - https://boardgamearena.com/8/gaiaprojec ... =485128841 - Ac, Eco4 in round1, Sci4 in round2, PI in round3, adv eco tile in round4.

Polished version:
kespie 236 vs 143 Automachtig - https://boardgamearena.com/1/gaiaprojec ... =485345756 - Ac, Eco4 opening, PI in round3, adv eco tile in round4 and adv qic tile at the end. Quite some points from qic actions. Can be polished a little bit more to 240+.

Yes, the Academy opening seems to work well even though the Nevlas PI is one of the better PIs in the game. Thanks for sharing your game - getting the two high-scoring advanced techs was well done.

31 VP from qic actions is great. I like the way you took advantage of the extra charge from the Automachtig's opening and aggressively used the faction action for knowledge.

I wonder if a PI+RL opening against the Automachtig would do well - I'm sure my lowish score could be improved upon.

Have fun with whatever games you are playing, everyone.

There's one week of the challenge remaining, for you to have a go or to improve your scores.

Advance notice: I might not have the April challenge ready until 2 April, though I hope to have it done for the 1st. In the meantime, enjoying your gaming.
