Friendly mode only?

Is it just me, or is the ELO rating mode of the game just not working? It seems every time I set one up, it always goes to friendly?

What do you mean by "goes to Friendly"?

"Competitive modes and rankings" are disabled for Letter Tycoon, as is the case with all spelling games (Hardback, BuyWord) and some other games for various reaons (Chess, Turing Machine, cooperative games). This setting means:
- Elo is not shown as an exact number, only as a level (e.g. "Apprentice", "Average")
- Arena is disabled
- Tournaments are disabled.

You can still play in
- Regular mode (with timers, penalties for quitting, and for Elo points, except the actual Elo points are hidden)
- or in Friendly mode (no timers, no penalties for quitting, no Elo whatsoever).
