Is it possible to build a station through a tunnel?

Post by BMWist »

We were playing a game with friends, and the route was not closed because the built station through the tunnel was not counted

According to the rules:
A Train Station allows its owner to use one, and only one, of the routes
belonging to another player,
into (or out of) that city to help him
connect the cities on his Destination Tickets.
So if nobody else owns a route, putting a station is useless. The fact that the route is a tunnel, a ferry or a regular one is irrelevant.

In your game the route from Sochi to Erzurum does not belong to any player so the station in Sochi is useless. The yellow player should have put a station in Sevastopol or Erzurum or Costantinople

Same story for the station in Munchen: it does not connect you to Zurich since nobody has claimed the route from Munchen to Zurich (and here there is no good city for the station since none of the routes to Zurich has been claimed)

Clicking on 1 of the 2 cities that define a route (that can be a tunnel) permits to build a station.

The first station to be build needs 1 card.
The second station to be build needs 2 cards of the same color.
The third station to be build needs 3 cards of the same color.
