Timer is ridiculous

Post by don1991 »

3 minutes is not enough time on a normal time frame. If you notice, hardly anyone plays this game. I tried to return playing it to decide whether or not to back the upcoming kickstarter. I doubt I will play again because this same time issue persists, which is why I quit playing it before. Please fix.

Beta is the optimal time to find and address timer issues, so thank you for bringing this to my attention. I should note that the best place to raise suggestion reports is here: https://boardgamearena.com/bugs?game=1846

The values for the timer are indeed the defaults: 30/40/50 seconds per turn for fast/normal/slow real-time game speeds. I can see how combo moves might create a cumulative time pressure that makes it hard to catch up. The next version will increase the time per turn by 50%: 45/60/75 seconds per turn for fast/normal/slow real-time game speeds. After this implementation is released to Stable, these values will be adjusted automatically based on how much time players are actually taking, so these times may come back down.

This should be implemented by the end of this weekend, a long with several final rule and balance changes reflected in the current rulebook, posted here: https://gamefound.com/en/projects/quine ... /updates/1

I have only played the game on Solo mode, but I feel like a much longer first turn is needed for the first turn, to get acquainted with the board and your special actions, etc
