Howdy - I'm a casual player of Azul (with ADHD and addictive tendencies so am a bit of a binger from time to time!). Really appreciating each of your you tube offerings, and slowly working through it all. Contrary to Dr F's comment about analysing one player only, I love it in the B to M series when you're offering side comments on what the other person could have done & in your reviews when you are talking to both player's options and moves - helps me see my own options better. Just wish I had more time to obsessively dive into this! Thanks so much for what you're generously giving this community.

Got some feedback that folks still want to see gameplay videos for the live thought process, so here are 3 arena games! https://youtu.be/DmGSoqaWA5I

I would rather hear the thought process after the game instead of in real time. There are times in your videos where you will talk about a couple options, then pause to think, then make a play without necessarily telling us what the consideration was during the silent pause.

I think if you voiced over during a replay, you could: 1) avoid the silent pauses; and 2) comment about whether you think you made the right choice. We don't often get the "upon reflection" views of some of your choices. And, well, they can't all be the best choices!

I also think this format would make the videos more efficient, you can step through the plays at whatever pace you like, probably often faster than real time because there isn't much need for comment on some things and because you can probably summarize the thought process after the fact in less time than it takes you to talk your way through it in real time. I think it would also be kinder to your opponents who likely get an unusually slow game from you when you are recording.

All this having been said, I have enjoyed the series; I think I have watched them all.

I enjoy the game play videos. It makes it easier for me to grasp the strategies that you are using vs. all the potential strategies that might be going through someone’s head. That said, I do enjoy the reviews for assessing the strong vs. weak moves. You have a very clear way of explaining - it’s just my speed! Looking forward to many more.

I’ll continue to do both :)

thg you are definitely right about reflecting on the real time plays, there are certainly mistakes. I think I completely botched round 4 of game 1 in the most recent video. Was lucky that I had a big lead headed into that round or I would’ve been in trouble.

That was a tricky spot because you and your opponent both needed row 1 & row 2 black and there were only 7 black left in play (and only 2 left for round 5); there wasn't much flexibility regarding the blacks.
