When all the animal cards in a row are used, not enough fires are added (likely bug)

Post by Mathew5000 »

I've noticed in a couple of games where the players purchased a large number of animal cards, that BGA does not follow one aspect of the rulebook, at the end of a round when there aren't enough cards to replenish a particular row.

The rulebook states: "Add as many Fires of value 2 to the center of the Circle of Spirits as there are Level 1 Guardian Animal cards taken this turn." / "Ajoutez d'abord autant de Feux de valeur 2 au centre du Cercle des Esprits que de cartes Animal gardien de niveau 1 prises durant ce tour."

But when the deck for a particular row is exhausted, so that additional cards cannot be replenished, BGA does not add enough fires. It seems that BGA only adds as many fires (of a particular value) corresponding to the number of cards it replenishes for the next round, rather than corresponding to the number of cards that were taken in the round just completed as demanded by the rulebook.

I reported this here: https://boardgamearena.com/bug?id=116540 but my bug report received hardly any upvotes, so now I am wondering if somehow I misinterpreted the rule?

Has anybody else noticed this bug? I'd appreciate any other perspectives.
