Release of Patents

I did not receive any conservation points when I played Release of Patents. I have the university with two research icons played into my zoo. It was placed before I played Release of Patents. What am I missing?

you played release a turn before taking the 2 science uni

Ugh. It looks like I played it backwards. I played Release of Patents first. What a moron. :P
That really messes up my game. Live and learn, I guess. Thanks for your willingness to help.
