EXPANSIONS talk

Post by Santa Maria »

NOTE: is for 'classical' 4-player games

QUESTION 1: what do the rules say about Forest House??

I am not sure but in the rulebook there is no mention of Forests being limited to 12, so I am used to play with unlimited forests so for all 24 possible.
Even when getting rid of a forest you are always able to get another, is this correct??

QUESTION 2: in the rules Hacienda and Forest House are not prohibited to be played together??

So here they are prohibited so you never can have both in a game. Is it to the games benefit?

QUESTION 3: what do the rules say about Black Market??

Here you can pay with a colonist from occupied Quarry and still get the benefit of the quarry even though it is technically unmanned in the moment of purchase (and so being empty).

I think the rules say you cant pay with any colonist that contributes to the price of the purchased building (so the one on Black Market itself and then on the active buildings like Zoning Office or Library or Quarries that count towards the discount of the purchased building)

Here it is possible which seems to be violating the rules.

QUESTION 4: is it not against the rules to play with all Nobles buildings added to the standard buildings as to have 6 large buildings??

I think it breaks the balance of the game to have those buildings added so there is no pressure on builders (as there are many more buildings still to get) and makes build strategies almost mandatory.

Some thoughts behind these implementation changes??

QUESTION 5: what do the rules say about Hunting Lodge and forests, should they count towards the requirement??

Now forests do count as a fill of your island, is this in compliance with the rules?

QUESTION 6: can you purchase a forest with Land Office (and Forest House) as to pay with db (db=doubloons) that you get from trading a good??

Here you cant purchase a forest if you dont pay beforehand is this the correct implementation?
Also rules state you can look at the plantation before you decide if you want to place it as a forest, so this rule is not implemented here.

QUESTION 7: the plantation you discard as for the placeing of the forest should be out of play??

Here it is implemented so that forests do not limit the remaining pool of available plantations for the plantation draw which seems to break the rules??
