#25 - Solo Challenge [September 2024] ACTIVE

Post by montybojangles »

The 25th solo challenge is to play the Hadsch Hallas against the automa of the month, the Itars (make sure you select the 'Automa of the month' button), on the RANDOM map. Check that the seed in the automa score panel is 17251920. It is important that you read the Rules section for more details, especially if the seed is not 17251920.

Whether you are a beginner or an expert, this challenge is for you. The goal is simple: have fun and get a high score in solo mode. Thanks to the BGA set-up, you can easily compare your score, watch replays of games and learn different ways of playing a faction. (There's more guidance on how to view replays at/near the end of the May 2023 challenge.) Play serenely at your leisure: there is no timer pressure!

The August challenge was won by Mallumän, who successfully defended their title - many congratulations to them and everyone else who tried the challenge.

There's elite rank for the top 5 players with winning games and cadet rank for everyone else.

1st step: Create a new table. Select Training or Friendly mode and RANDOM map. Choose 1 player/Solo and click on Start game. Select the red box Automa of the month (Itars).
2nd step: Select the difficulty you think you can handle.
3rd step: Select the faction Hadsch Hallas. Check that the seed is 17251920 (in the player score panel). If it isn't, start again using the alternative starting method (below).
4th step: Play the game. Post your score(s), mentioning the chosen difficulty (see the format below).

Alternative starting method: Start the game with RANDOM map selected >> Choose the Itars faction card (as you would for a normal game) Set the custom seed (17251920 for this challenge), which is next to the heading 'Choose Automa Difficulty Level', and Select the Automa difficulty >> Choose Hadsch Hallas.

Players usually insert the link of their game (you can find it on your profile – tab (x) games played) and mention which openings, tech tracks and other actions have been crucial for them (e.g. RL+2M. Economy, aiming for advanced tech tile on AI).

Ideally, use this format: YourNickname Score vs AutomaLevel Score – LinkOfTheGame – Techs focus – YourComment (e.g.: Marcus Aurelius 222 vs Ultoma 165 – www.boardgamearena.com/game=12345 – focus on Science and Terraforming until mid-game, with aim of taking advanced tile on Terraforming).

And don't forget to have fun!

Hi everyone!

Chessmaster_Hex 184 vs 152 Automighty - https://boardgamearena.com/13/gaiaproje ... =558130803

Opened with right Academy and pushed science and eco simultaneously. Afterwards went for terra and navi.

Advanced tile on terra (probably not worth it) and top of the track in science, eco and terra.

Negative: No vp from q.i.c. though I had lot´s of those, didn´t use the action aggressive enough and auto picked it a lot.
Positive: 42 v.p. from round booster, so I did that okayish I guess ;).

In the aftermath I think science track might be a good idea, keep some q.i.c, rack up 4 trading posts and then fetch the 4vp/trading post by q.i.c. action. Maybe I will have another go at this one :).

As allways, thanks for the challenge!

Thanks for being the first to post. I feel sure there are several approaches worth attempting, and like that you tried a right academy/science track combo. If HH can fit in a 3qic action, that costs only 6 credits for 7 VP.

Score list updated.

Mallumän 229 vs. Ultoma 166

Started with an academy and going up in eco. Then sought to expand and gather points by using the 3qic action as much as possible and getting the 1vp/planet type/round advanced tech. Went up in terraforming and navigation later, and started using the 2qic action later as well.

Thanks for setting this up again!
