Fast win vs. fun game?

Post by Wick3dScarecrow »

I really love this game and I play it every few days. Through my plays I've noticed something - I LOVE games with people, who try to make huge amount of points through combos and it is really fun. And I HATE people, who plays only for "fast win" = unlock all band places and fill them ASAP - no other strategy, not even trying, just hurry hurry hurry all 12 band people and finish the game. Assets only for money, Calendar just for color bonus or x3/x4. If I could (but I can't because of karma), I would leave in second round, when I see this "strategy". It ruins the game for me - you have so many options (assets, calendar, musicians, tour, chords, singles and albums), and they choose just musicians... 4 chords just for money, and some assets for money and fill band right away, with 0.... really.... ZERO quests done, just to make other player lose points because of not having musicians (all errors will give you -52 points, and they make only like 70-100 points, with combos you can have more then 200) = why to bother making some quests and combos, when you have someone, who play just for win (and ego maybe) and don't for fun. It's like to play Twilight Imperium with only one race every time, play the same strategy, same techs, same units.... yeah... really fun.

I think this is childish. Or am I wrong, so this game is not worth time to play?

PS: I know, that this is strategy too, but why would you do that - skip 70% of whole potencial of game? Why do they play it in this case?

Itss a valid strategy to win.

if you dont want a person to do it, stop passing them the band members they need.

I only do it if I get the cards to do it with.

Ok, then I have a question. You buy a game and ignore 70% of the box. Where is the fun? LOL

Maybe that 70% is not fun.

Anyway, I think this happens with many games, you can play them more casually or more competitively. When you play competitively, only winning matters, as quick as possible, as uncontested as possible. If you want to play in a more... let's say "relaxed" way, you can find a group of like-minded players, or play in friendly mode (at least you can quit if you don't like how the game is going). But again, this goes for every game.

Just a heads up the lost points is not additive. If you don't have any band members you lose a total of 20 points not 52 points. I have played 136 games and never lost to someone rushing a full band. If they rush band members then you should make sure they don't complete any goals while completing some of the easier ones. While they rush band members they leave assets galore for you to take and with those you should be able to quickly get enough points to beat them via the tour almost on its own. The full band strategy is a really poor one and will only win if they get lucky playing inexperienced players or get lucky and have the exact right goals for that strategy.

In my games I prefer to end the game via 6 goals which can sometimes be really quick and other times take a long time. If you play a good strategy and have goals completing other goals and can end the game on round 3 while winning then why would you drag the game out. I only play arena though as I enjoy the competition.

If you want to play friendlier games then I would suggest stating so before starting a game, or looking for people via general chat.

My fun might be winning. And if i make it a fast game, i can play again to see the rest of the box.

fun is defined differently to different people.
