Order of dealing cards

Post by Jegpeg »

I normally expect in card games that cards are dealt out one at a time to players in rotation. This is certainly done in poker tournaments for example.

In Boomerang (or at least Boomerant Europe), one player gets the first 7 cards another player gets the next 7 and so on, which strikes me as odd though not technically against the rules.

It doesn't make a difference in 2 or 4 player games but in the second round of a 3 player game one player will (initially) get all the cards that were not used in the first round.

Are you suggesting that they ARE actually dealt out that way digitally - 7 cards to one player, then 7 more to the next ... ?

Are you also suggesting that the full deck IS NOT shuffled fully between each and every round in a 3 player game?

Both of these scenarios sound very weird to me.

Sorry only just seen the reply,

After I noticed it I check the next dozen or so games I played in and can confirm this is the case.

I can see some sort of logic of ensuring all the cards turn up and thought the written rules might be that the used cards are only shuffled and dealt after all the pack is exhausted but if this was the case I would expect the remaining cards to be split between the players as evenly as possible.

I have since found a rulebook that says all 28 cards should be shuffled aftereach round.

If players are card counting there is a significant disadvantage for the player who gets the remain 7 cards in a 3 player game as they can work out what their thro car is.
