Unfairness in kot elo

Post by ISEECOMPENSATION »

I like this Game, I have been playing for more than one year and got really good at it, but now it is getting frustrating to play cause this new format punishes people for being good, I have won against strong players with elos of 200s 300s more than 6 consecutives wins and now It is forcing me to lose against those players if I ever want to get elo fom them, It is really unfair for me to play against people from whom I would get zero Elo, cause once you get 6 consecutives wins you are punished and get zero Elo and if I ever dare to lose, I would lose like 10 to 20 points. It is completely unfair cause those players are playing free against me without risking anything.
This format has to change not Even in chess You get punished for being good, I read there are suspicions of people farming Elo, but I think this is not a solution and that every case should be analized, if not You are only saying people to better be average or You Will get punished.

It is not so easy, cause I have an excellent record against a lot of people ....., at this point I have to choose oponents to play which is sick.

There is a thread with almost 900 posts and over 2.5 million views where this has been discussed ad nauseum. It's not specific to KoT, so nothing is going to be done about it here.

Not sure if there is going to be a change, but this has been an update from just 1 month or so. I hope moderators would notice this and change it back.

Feeling this is unfair and making the Game less competitive.

Yeah, it's a change done nearly 6 months ago actually and it's for all games.
See https://boardgamearena.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=33785
Or search "consecutive wins" on the forums.

There was a change for KoT not too long ago but that was a bug fix that has nothing to do with consecutive wins, it was previously impossible to have a net positive ELO change at the end of the game unless you finished first. (Because losses in KoT were labelled as "team losses" and "team losses" are buggy in the entire framework)

I didn't even realise this. It explains why I recall on atleast one occasion I received no ELO for winning. I totally agree that it needs to be changed and they have implemented the easier "solution"

Wow. That explains a lot. I usually don’t play the expansions and 2p games, so yeah I guess there’s not that many players out there that I haven’t won several consecutive times against. I didn’t get why I often don’t get ELO points.
