Increase the game clock

Post by Kenny Michael-Otton »

Hey all!

Just had an experience where I was kicked from the game for taking too long. I admit that the turn I was resolving I had rewound twice, but as far as timer goes, I was not taking insanely long (I think I'd taken 11 minutes total to my opponents 7).

Given the estimated time for the game is 35 minutes, it seems insane that you only have 5 minutes of thinking time, especially when some actions just take a long time to resolve (e.g. I was doing "Resolve East AND West Ops in one action, including multiple votes, etc).

Anyone else feel like the timer should be adjusted, even in fast games, to be a bit longer?

playing in turns also means hours between one move and another, increasing the reflection time means playing in sync but with a little more time to think. Complex games require thought. I'm sure there are many people smarter and faster than me but I also believe that those who like to think love playing complex games like this and can be entitled to more time

This will adjust automatically based on actual games played, but that will take some time I guess. I can imagine it might be a bit off at the moment since everything in alpha is friendly mode by default and we have only had beta for a couple of days. Just a bit of a shame your opponent kicked you right away.

The game is basically unplayable in real-time. Just the mechanics of playing your opps when you have multiple cards will use up your clock, let alone having a think.

Allowing for the worst case mechanics of playing an East and West ops move should be the fastest setting. If this can't take into account the cards in tableau, then it has to allow for the likely most populations.
