Hello,
This is destinated to players with at least 100 victories and who plays hard regularly. I don't advise it if you aren't familiar with the rules, the strategy, the optimisations of alarms trigger and so on.
I wanna talk about something I really enjoy which is to take events in purpose (usually when all players are in floor 1 and/or in lavatory) to try to get the '+1 stealth' or the '+1 item'.
You can see an example of it used a lot from a good layout here: https://boardgamearena.com/archive/repl ... s=84207926; (turns #60 => #136).
The main events to look for are those who can affect others floors:
- move above (move under) one floor: that one can be extremely detrimental, especially if you end up in a foyer, or sometimes in an alarm.
- move guard from others floors: you usually don't want to take an event if that can cause a direct loss of stealth from others players, that's why using it in floor 1 is pretty good
- move the other player to your tile. That sometimes want you to have the other player to escape to cycle events in solo in lavatory. And it makes taking events worst the further the other player is. And bad if the guard is in the only entrance.
You have some others which can effect you if another player is on your floor, or if you aren't in lavatory:
- guard move to your tile: that alone makes it bad if you are too close to the guard
- draw the next patrol card in your floor
- move the guard 1 tile to the closest character
- guard move one more
- guard warp to his destination
- trigger alarm in labo used
And so all of that is a total mess, and that's the point of events. That's why being in lavatory and looking for the 3 events which affect floors is the main use of it.
Second main use is when you are the last player to play.
Third use is when all players are in floor 1, you still need to look at move upstairs which is the most important one. Often you can take event when you don't have much to do, and the other player is close to unknown tiles which contain the stairs. Instead of wasting your turn to avoid an event you can take an event.
The more you take events, the more you can know what are the annoying events left, and so your chance to have a good spot for an event increase. As soon as you get the +1 stealth or +1 item it's value goes down considerably.
I'm going more and more in that direction in my games, and I believe it's good.
