This game seems to have a small but dedicated community on BGA. In recent months, it has become one of my favorite games, with a great balance between tactics and strategy. It's really a shame that there isn’t any article about strategy and tips (on BGG, BGA, or the internet in general), so I thought we could discuss some of the key points of the game here.
I'm no expert, but here are some conclusions I've drawn over time:
- I try to maximize only one of the production tracks and get the tile that gives you 1 unit of the other material + 1 victory point first (though this might not be as important as I usually think).
- It's hard to follow a single strategy to accumulate points; you need to do several things well to get a good score (correct me if I'm wrong).
- The S tile from Era II, which upgrades the upgrade action with a golden window, is a must.
- I try to use the production action no more than twice per game, although I often feel like I fall short.
- It's crucial to have at least the first two technologies unlocked early.
- Generally, I focus more on small plazas than on large ones.
- Accumulating points during the game is just as important as having endgame objectives that provide points.
- I’m always torn between the golden window or the technology book. I suppose it's very situational.
- I tend to ignore upgrades because I almost always find something I consider more important to do. I'm probably wrong on this point."
I encourage you all to share your strategy tips and keep enjoying this great game. Cheers!
