Cannot Place Tile

Playing my first game of this, and really struggling with the interface.

I can buy a tile, spend the money, but don't seem to be able to move it to actually get it onto my Alhambra - trying to select and drag has no effect, and there's no option to just click (like in Carcassonne)

can anyone suggest anything?

Was it your first turn? Did you buy with the exact amount? If so, it makes you take your second action before you place the tile.

Just read the title bar, it will always tell you what you should do.
