yes it it intentional. it's allowed by the rules. The original bga implementation was wrong.

Also the official potion explosion app allow the same I think

Also, thank you for patiently answering the questions and quick fixes of the issues raised! We can be quite excitable when it comes to changes in our beloved games :-) Your efforts are much appreciated, even when we complain!

Yes it's really awful and almost every move I make, I get the endless spinning spiral and the red banner and I have to exit the game and enter it again. Frustrating! I also think the big 4 tokens left on the top is distracting and useless. These kind of things you learn after reading the rules or just 1 playthrough.
