End of Race Moves

Post by JohnnyCyclops »

Italia circuit, standard game, two laps. End of race I went second, passed the finish line and caught up level with the player who went first. We were both two squares short of the next turn.

The game offered me a slipstream. However it cautioned I’d then pass that next corner way too fast. I rechecked the rules which reminded me that passing corners after crossing the finish line don’t receive a speed check. The rules also reminded me that slipstreaming on a final turn isn’t allowed.

So I chose to decline the slipstream offer as I didn’t want to obtain an unfair win.

But should the game even be offering me a slipstream in this circumstance? Had I tried to accept it would I have been blocked by the game from proceeding? Why the warning for passing the next corner way too fast (corner six, speed 14) when I’d crossed the finish line?

It was a sour end to an otherwise great race.

Do such things exist? I did wonder and checked the options but couldn’t see anything. How would I know how many laps it is?

Oh good grief! Italia is a three lap circuit. My first time on this track. My tactics just went out the window! I must have only raced on two-lap tracks up to now and assumed they all were. It’s a turn based game at 54% completion. I live and learn.

It does, on Italy and Mexico.
I guess your player panel says turn 2 / 3 if your check the game or replay. It's also written somewhere on the circuit art.

Indeed. I see it now on my player panel next to the finish flag icon, now shows 3/3, while back marker drivers are still on 2/3.

Secondly, it’s printed on the circuit board. Italia’s is top left, which I’d not noticed before. Shows laps, number of spaces in a lap, and number of corners.

I drive and learn!

The good news is, you didn't blast straight over the turn thinking it was the last lap, then spin out and ruin your race!

Not that I've done that, of course!

I've not done that on the last championship race after my opponents had already crashed and got eliminated ... I also didn't go around that corner at over 20 speed ignoring the warnings when asked whether I was really sure I wanted to boost...
