Zola not "minute to learn"

Post by MarkSteere »

Zola is not as simple as Gopher, Dodo, and Silo. If English is not your first language, it may not be "minute to learn". A day or two might pass before you fully understand the rules. On the bright side, Zola has received very positive feedback, including here at BGA.

Ok, several minutes to learn. :) How many plays to master?

Not sure what the point of the OP is. Like most abstracts, the rules of Zola are very easy, and as such can be learnt in a very short time. I'd say a minute, but even if it is 2 or 3, it doesn't matter. But, again like a lot of abstracts, the game is hard to master.

I wouldn’t presume to speak for OP, but I see the point. It doesn’t have the simplicity of rules of games like Dodo or Go. And, straight line distance to center is not super intuitive.
So what, it takes a few minutes and plays to absorb the rules.
The bigger question: is does it have depth? Does it take a “lifetime to master”?
