Azul Cup (National team tournament)

Hi, we're planning to run a competitive series of tournaments here on BGA against competing national teams. Mostly this has been organised on the Azul discord channel (https://discord.gg/TSEb8HTjGJ).

Teams currently comprise of 3+ people per team from the same nation, with one member being the captain and taking on the role of putting the competitive team together for the first tournament. We're looking for 3 players to complete in the first tournament, but if popularity grows we'll look to expand on this number.

As you can see, France needs two more players and Hong Kong one more.
We'd also love to see more nations taking part, and we know there are some great players from China, France, Italy, Spain, Poland, and Hugrary, to name a few. So if you are interested, please either reply here or come visit us on discord (https://discord.gg/TSEb8HTjGJ).

Current format, is as follows:

Teams comprise of 3 people per team from the same nation.
Teams are divided into regional groups in similar time zones (based upon number of teams).
Each regional group has 3 tournaments (1 for each team member) round Robin, with a member of each team in each tournament.
Points are awarded based on the individual finishing position of each regional tournament.
After all regional tournaments the winning national team from each region advance to compete in a similar format for the world finals.
Games are turn based, 3 days limit to reduce collusion (if such things happen on bga).

Potentially it would start early to mid-December.

The closing data to build a national team of at least 3 people is December 1st. If anyone would like any help please let me know.
After that, I expect a discussion on the format, to find what works best for everyone for the first tournament.

I feel your pain. There needs to be an "other" or wider regional subgroups to join with. I'm not sure if there are enough experts for a Team Caribbean, but if there are, try to put that together?

I was thinking of trying to put together a mideast team with Iran or something (and I think it would be a cool idea to have Team Gaming For Peace), but I was still having trouble looking for a third .

In the end I'm taking advantage of being Canadian and playing for team Canada, but that's not an option for most people.

Latest team lineup is below, and it looks very good. Tomorrow we're going to start discussing the format on Discord, and after that we'll be announcing the date for the first Azul Cup tournament.

Still waiting to see if France can form a team, there seems to be 3 players but I'm unsure if they've been in contact.
Peru is still looking for 2 players.
Ant50 and oldteajar are on the short list for a RoW team.
