Combine playing food and trait cards (QP)

Combine playing for food cards and trait cards in quick play. This would allow things to go quicker especially for turn based games.

Theoretically, if I am 4th in a 4 player game and I don't play my food card until my turn to play trait cards, then I have a lot more information before discarding my food card. (Such as the defense card I was going to counter has been replaced, so I don't need this trait anymore). It's not a terrible idea but it does give a slight advantage to players later in turn order, it would need to be optional.

I agree - I think the other commenter isn't understanding that you mean select your face down card for food then your traits changes WITHOUT seeing the results of other players' turns, in Quick Play.

This suggestion is for quick play, in which there is no turn order unless I'm missing something. Right now, the game makes everyone wait to choose trait cards until everyone else has chosen their food card; I think the suggestion is that if quick play is on for the game, it shouldn't force you to wait - as soon as you've chosen and confirmed your food card, you can then right away start choosing your trait cards for the turn. It would be "optional" in the sense that the game couldn't force you to choose your trait cards "early" - if you want to wait until everyone has selected their food card, you could wait. So I guess it would make sense not to start your timer for trait cards until everyone has confirmed their food cards, but you could still play them without waiting if you want.
