Beetles question

Hello guys, i'm new to the game so i played a couple of hive games, in one game playing the base game, so no extra bugs or expansions, when my oponent ran out of bugs he comes out of nowhere with a third beetle, i have never seen this in any of my games, is this a bug or something normal? Before he did so his reserve was empty as you can see on move 32 on the following link(I'm the black player):

I sent an e-mail to BGA but never got an answer.

Looks like another bug that is tied to the Hive app.

As Salmansar had no more pieces to play, this third beetle came out from nowhere. He was offered to put a piece in play, and he has exploited a bug to cheat and win. I advise you to report this bug.

There's other weird things in this game, you placed a grasshopper directly pinning his 3rd beetle and in the end you moved his beetle (and one of your reserve's beetles disappeared then).
